PCEA Nairobi West Church ( then named PCEA Church of the Torch Nairobi South C) was started in 1982 by the late Rev. Geoffrey Ngare. It was located at the then Ministry of Works staff chapel cum adult literacy classroom in the site currently occupied by Moi Educational Centre.
The pioneer elders were Mr. George Wanyingi Karuri (from PCEA Langata Church) and the late Mr. Gerald Njoroge (from PCEA Githima Church). The pioneer deaconess was Mrs. Tabitha Githaiga (from PCEA Langata Church).
The church was officially registered on 29th May 1983 and St Andrews Church acted as the overseer. By the end of 1983 there were over 50 members.
The first ordination of elders took place on 15th June 1985. These were the late Mr Isaac Ngatia, the late Mrs Leah Muya, the late Mrs. Tabitha Githaiga and Dr (Mrs) Naomi Gathirwa.
PCEA Nairobi West Parish relocated to its present site in May 1984.
Nairobi West became a Parish on 25th January 1998.
